Positive Pastoral Support (Managed by Brompton Westbrook Primary School)
Every Child Matters outcomes met:
The aim of the project is to provide comprehensive support to pupils aged 5 - 11 who are at risk of exclusion, disaffection and/or have difficulties with social situations, peer group relationships and self esteem, including induction support for newly arrived pupils. Children and parents are able to self refer to receive support from the pastoral team, who are currently in the process of re-establishing Peer Mediation in the school through Medway Mediation, and about to embark on a ‘training the trainers’ programme so pupil involvement can be maintained, despite the high pupil turnover at Brompton Westbrook due to the transient army population. The project has recently been running a pilot of the Government’s behaviour and attendance strategy ‘Social and Emotional Aspects of Learning’ (SEAL). The school is currently training all staff in aspects of Transactional Analysis to support positive communication skills.
