Home School Support Workers (Managed by Medway Council)
Every Child Matters outcomes met:
Home/school support workers help to bridge the gap between home and school by providing groups for children, one to one work, parenting support, signposting to appropriate services, joint work with other agencies to help with attendance, behaviour, health and much more. Although their role is similar to that of Family Liaison Officers in other areas, the key difference in Medway is that all the workers are supported centrally. Managed by Medway Council Children’s Services directorate, the home/school support project has grown rapidly since its inception in January 2002, when CFM funding was obtained for six schools that had identified the need for this service. Initially, three workers were employed - one between two schools. Since then the project has expanded to 16 schools with a dedicated worker for each school. Schools participating: All Faiths' Children's Community, Barnsole Junior, Bradfields, Chattenden Primary, Delce Junior, Hoo St Werburgh, Kingfisher Primary, Luton Junior, New Road Primary, The Pilgrim School, St Michael's Catholic Primaryl, Saxon Way Primary, Sherwin Knight Junior, Temple Mill Primary, Temple School, New Brompton College, Stoke Community, Twydall Junior, Wayfield Primary.
